BUSUTTIL (SALVATORE)

Raccolta di costumi dello Stato Pontificio. Incisi in acquaforte..., etched title and 29 plates, occasional light spotting (mostly in margins but affecting image of last plate), small ink stain in margin of title, later brown panelled morocco, upper cover with elaborate outer and inner gilt floral borders, spine gilt, original limp wrappers bound in, oblong folio (234 x 345mm.), Rome, 1826

Footnotes

Provenance: Contessa Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt (1885-1971, noted collector, gallerist, philanthropist and patron of the arts), ink stamp on front paste-down and on verso of title-page ("Collezione Contessa Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt. Roma sparita"). The Countess's famous collection of Roman prints, books, drawings and paintings came to be known as "Roma Sparita" because of its nostalgic focus on a bygone era of the city. When she died in 1971, she left the drawings and paintings to the Museo di Roma, while her collection of prints and published works were sold and dispersed.
