Provenance
New Forest House, Tyrrellspass, Co. Laois, Ireland
Hans Hanovic, and thence by descent through the family

Barbara Palmer, nee Villiers, had five or possibly six children by King Charles II who later conferred the title of Lord Castlemaine on her husband. One of the Castlemaines' children is said to have married into the Gardiner family of New Forest House, Co Laois. The house remained in the Gardiner family for many generations until it was sold – with most of its contents - to Hans Hanovic in 1952.
