Philip Yorke (1690-1764) was a lawyer and politician who served as Lord Chief Justice and then in 1737 as Lord Chancellor under Sir Robert Walpole. In 1737 he was created Earl of Hardwicke and Viscount Royston. He was later a close confidant of the Duke of Newcastle when Prime Minister.
