Double elephant folio (1110 x 750mm). 6 copperplates color printed à la poupée, finished in watercolor. Plates matted, each mat and all text now tipped and/or bound in half green morocco over cloth boards. Plates and text very fine, some spotting to morocco at upper left corner of cover, 10 cm scuff to lower left corner near spine.
LIMITED EDITION, NUMBER VII OF XIV HORS COMMERCE COPIES, OUT OF A TOTAL EDITION OF 125. Printed from the original copper plates held in the American Museum of Natural History. Audubon's original watercolors, notes, letters and bird specimens were used to achieve this definitive edition of the plates. The six prints are: Wild Turkey, male (plate I in the first edition), Snowy Owl (plate CXXI), Canada Goose (plate CCI), Wild Turkey, female and young (VI), Mallard Duck (plate CCXI), and Great White Heron (plate CCLXXXI).
