Signed Thomas Mudge & William Dutton, London, last quarter 18th century
Surmounted by a brass handle, the triple pad topped break-arch case with molded glazed arched side apertures and molded door on a plinth base and ogee feet, the arched brass dial with silvered rise and fall subsidiary over rococo spandrels and strike/silent lever, the Roman chapter ring with outer Arabic five-minute markers, blued steel hands enclosing signature plaque, apertures for date and mock pendulum, the substantial signed twin fusee movement now with chains, verge escapement, rack-striking on a bell and folding pendulum lock below the signature
