Footnotes
Both crests pertain to the RIVERS family.
The family's heraldic origin was with Sir John Rivers who was Lord Mayor of London in 1568. The swan emerging from a bunch of reeds is allusive to his name. The crest of a bull, also used by the family, is associated with the motto SECUS RIVOS AQUARUM and translates as By Rivers of Waters.
