NAMIKI: Dancing Beauty Maki-e and Raden Limited Edition 75 Fountain Pen
Traditional flat-top vest pen with gold-plated cap band, raised takamaki-e, kirikane and raden on green lacquer ground. The decoration features a beautiful dancing woman with a folding fan under a branch of Sakura blossoms. The motif recalls the Ukiyo-e wood block prints of the 17th century, and also Sakura blosson festivals of the 16th century, when farmers would pray for abundant harvests in the spring. The green urushi coating is reminiscent of the green fields and hills of the harvest season, and represents a dramatic departure from the more typically seen black lacquer. Signed by the artist (kanji unknown).
