NAMIKI: Emperor Raden Mother-of-Pearl and Abalone Fountain Pen *PROTOTYPE*
A fascinating and rare prototype Namiki Emperor pen fully decorated in the raden technique with hundreds of carefully hand-carved mother-of-pearl and abalone shell fragments. raden highlights are often used on better-quality maki-e pens to add brilliance and a sense of opulence. The effect of a large pen entirely ornamented in raden is spectacular; the size and dazzling surface give the pen a stunning, mesmeric quality.
Medium 18K gold nib, large #50 size, engraved with Mt. Fuji device. Outer box, wooden display box, ink bottle, service guide and various other papers, Namiki DVD.
This pen was created as a prototype, and it was never produced in numbers for commercial release. It is of the greatest rarity, and may indeed be the only example of its kind.
