[PLATINUM]: Crested Ibises in Flight Maki-e Propelling Pencil, 1930s

A superb propelling pencil decorated with a flock of ibises against a backdrop of golden clouds, maker unknown, possibly Platinum. Red, violet and gold pigment in togidashi maki-e and raised takamaki-e on black lacquer ground. Flat top, brass cone, ball-ended clip. 120mm. Some rubbing to lacquer at seam where top piece joins main section. Signed by artist (kanji unknown, but somewhat resembles that of Namiki artist Shorin Tanaka).
