MONTBLANC: Pair of Factory-Made Cut-Away Demonstrator Fountain Pens with Dummy Nibs, 144 & 256 Models, 1950s
Pair of rare factory-made Montblanc demonstrators, 144 and 256 models, apertures cut into barrels and caps revealing piston-filling mechanisms, gold-plated rings and trim, Montblanc-branded dummy nibs, 1950s. A fascinating pair of demonstrators, ingeniously designed. Excellent condition.
Montblanc cut-away demonstrators with dummy nibs are quite uncommon, and are not to be confused with the clear-barreled Montblanc demonstrators with functional nibs that one typically sees. An example is illustrated in Jens Rösler and Stefan Wallrafen's indispensable reference Collectible Stars I: Montblanc 1908-1947, [Cologne: 2014], p.83.
