DRAGON: Large Japanese Valve-Filling "The Dragon" Fountain Pen, Ebonite, Unrecorded Example, 1920s
Black hard rubber, chased pattern to barrel, valve-filling mechanism. 150mm. 14K gold Warranted nib. Generally excellent condition, rich black lustre, light handling wear and some nicks to section. Barrel marked "THE DRAGON / Made in Japan," cap marked "The Dragon Fountain Pen / With / Ball Regulating Valve / Pat. No. 44007 / Made in Japan."
A fascinating and obscure Japanese pen of impressive size and compelling aesthetics. Not recorded in any of the standard reference books, and no mention to this pen or its maker can be found on the internet. A true Chimera of Japanese hard rubber pens.
