A.A. WATERMAN: Gold-Filled Snake Fountain Pen, Rare Variant with Tree Bark Pattern, Overlay by Heath, c.1905
Extremely rare A.A. Waterman fountain pen with gold-filled snake overlay. The overlay is almost certainly the work of George W. Heath. This variant differs from the more familiar Waterman Snake design due to the hand-carved tree bark background pattern. Only two examples are known, making this one of the rarest and most desirable Waterman pens.
Two snakes (one on cap, one on barrel), both with green stone eyes; black hard rubber endpiece and section; Waterman "A.A." pocket clip; piston-filler; 14K gold #5 Waterman ("A.A.") clover-vent nib. 148mm. Endpiece imprinted "872 / 15". Excellent condition, indicia not engraved.
Provenance: From the Collection of a Gentleman.
