A painted New York State militia drum made by William Kilbourne in Albany, NY
circa 1860

The wooden drum painted with the New York state coat-of-arms and motto Excelsior. Brick red painted rims retaining original skins, ropes and leather pulls also original. Interior with Mr. Kilgore's label.
Condition: Some small areas of loss to painting. Label with losses. Top drumhead ripped.
