A scarce cased Massachusetts Arms Company 1st Type percussion pocket revolver

Serial no. 925 (barrel 431), .28 caliber. Type I manually revolved. 2 1/2 inch blued octagonal barrel. Casehardened top strap marked Mass. Arms Co./Chicopee Falls. Blued six-shot cylinder etched with florals. Blued and engraved primer cover marked Maynard's Patent/Sep. 22, 1845. Interior of cover, frame under cover and right side of gripstraps serial numbered 925. Blued trigger and triggerguard. Varnished walnut grips. Complete with varnished walnut case, the fitted interior lined in burgundy velour. Accessories include correct Massachusetts Arms Co. powder flask, brass two-cavity mold marked Mass. Arms Co./Chicopee Falls, brass loading rod and tin tube containing two rolls of Maynard tape primers, the gilt brass lid marked Maynard's Patent/Sep. 22, 1845/Manufactured By/Mass. Arms Co./Chicopee Falls/Mass.
Condition: Revolver, fine to excellent. Barrel retains 98% blued finish. Top strap with generous traces of faded casehardening. Cylinder with dark brown patina showing traces of blue finish and areas of light pitting. Frame showing perhaps 30% blue. Primer cover with 90% blue mixed with brown patina. Trigger and triggerguard with 90% plus blue. Excellent grips. Case exterior with light marks. Lining faded and showing areas of wear and some small tears. Accessories very good.
