A Scottish regimental pattern baskethilted broadsword
circa 1820

The 29 1/2 inch double-edged blade of oval section with two deep 13 inch fullers; one side with small stamp above the fullered ricasso GW, the reverse with the figure of a rearing stag. Steel hilt generally in the 1828 pattern. Domed pommel with four flutes with line borders. Black leather-wrapped grip bound with twisted brass wire.
Condition: Mottled grey patina showing areas of staining and some light pitting. Basket with break to one bar below pommel. Grip wrap scuffed but sound.
