A battle axe head
probably Afghani, style of the 17th century

The blade with crescent-shaped edge and stamped on either side above the neck with a pyramidal group of six small bell-shaped marks, each containing three balls; the neck inlet on either side with three vertical panels for inlay, one side retaining two brass bands, the other side, one; heavy, faceted poll, the back inlet with three horizontal panels for inlay, now missing.
Condition: Mottled grey metal showing marks and pitting overall.
