A halberd
17th or 18th century

Having a 12 inch spearpoint spike of diamond section, axe blade with cruciform and trefoil piercings, beaked fluke with one upturned branch and two side lugs; the whole split below the blade to form the sides of the socket and two 24 inch side straps. The front and back of the socket formed of flat panels extending to 24 inch straps and riveted to the 68 inch oak haft. Base of haft fitted with a short spike and missing the ferrule.
Condition: Heavy age patina overall.
