A Mughal kard
18th century

Broad 9 1/2 inch blade of dark finely watered wootz steel; armor-piercing tip; fluted spine. Bolster and spine of grip decorated with gold koftgari floral meander; elephant ivory gripscales. Green velour-covered scabbard with pierced silver-plated mounts.
Condition: Blade with some small areas of staining/light pitting to edge. Hilt with some wear to gilt decoration. Scabbard mounts with wear to silver plating.
