A fine silver-mounted Moroccan dagger, koumiyya
late 19th century

Sharply curved 9 inch blade, sharpened on the inner edge and struck with a maker's mark, the pronounced spine molded with fluting. Hilt of typical form with rhino horn grip, the silver ferrule and pommel cap chased with florals, the pommel cap with partial hallmark, probably Fez. Solid silver scabbard chased overall with floral scrolls and strapwork, the reverse also struck with Fez hallmark.
Condition: Blade with dark mottled patina showing some light pitting. Grip with minor insect damage.
