Footnotes
This table by Eugène Cornu is typical of his work. He combined onyx and bronze in decorative objects, which he exhibited at the International Exhibitions in the second half of the 19th century. Cornu purchased a share in the onyx mines of Algeria around 1860, when this material became extremely popular in France.
