A 19th century rock crystal and enamelled silver-gilt charger

unmarked, apart from later French import marks, German or Austrian in the style of Ratzersdorfer
The central rock crystal panel decorated with grotesque scrolls insects and ho-ho birds amongst scrolls with silver-gilt reeded and scallop-edged channel mount with alternating translucent green and red enamel gems on white enamelled scrolls, encircled by a band of similarly decorated trapezoidal panel separated by enamelled terms, the rim formed of rock crystal panels profusely decorated in scrolls, separated by enamelled terms within bands of alternating translucent green and red enamel gems on white enamelled scrolls, with a cast fruit border, all raised on a spreading circular foot with scalloped edge, diameter 47cm.
