A 19th century Austrian silver-gilt and enamelled nef,
by Leopold Weininger, Vienna circa 1883-86
Modelled as a three-masted ship with enamelled sails, with six enamelled sailors in the rigging and on deck, the enamel hull painted with Venus, raised on a stem formed as a triton blowing a horn, raised on a lobed enamel base painted with watery scenes of gods, including The Rape of Europa, a satyr and Amymone, Triton and Venus, on four silver-gilt paw feet (losses), height 25.5cm.
