This beaker is from the transitional period between Hieronymus Hackel's engraving of simple name-day Saints (see the previous lot in this sale), to more sophisticated hunting and bucolic scenes. Similar beakers by Hackel depicting deer hunting are illustrated by Paul von Lichtenberg, Hieronymus Hackel: Mojster vzhajajočega sonca (2005), pl. 37, cat. 25 and pls. 89-91, cat. 59, and by Gustav Pazaurek and Eugen von Philippovich, Gläser der Empire- und Biedermeierzeit (1976), p. 65, figs. 47-48.
