Footnotes
Although a number of engravers probably produced versions of The Last Supper, this is known to have been a subject particularly favoured by Anton Simm. Simm's account books include many notes of glasses with 'Supper' subjects. Beakers with very similar engraving are illustrated by Paul von Lichtenberg, Glasgravuren des Biedermeier (2004), p. 187, fig. 175a, and by Glass Gallery Michael Kovacek, Glass of Five Centuries (1990), pp. 156-157, fig. 118. Another beaker with similar engraving was sold in these rooms, 11 December 2013, lot 89.
