Footnotes
Provenance: The Overduin Collection
With Frides Laméris, sold 14 January 2004
The thinness and quality of the glass suggests a Venetian origin. Similar glasses are illustrated by Pieter van Eck and Henrica Zijlstra-Zweens, Glass in the Rijksmuseum Vol I (1993), p. 26, cat. 14, by Franz Dreier, Venezianische Gläser (1989), p. 136, cat. 152, and by Fritz Nagel, Europäisches Formglas 15.-19. Jahrhundert (1990), p. 34, cats. 167-169. A very similar glass was sold by Sotheby's London, 14 November 1995, lot 375.
