1796 $10 AU50 NGC. here in US BD-1, Breen-6832, Bass-3174, Taraszka-6, R.4, the only known die pairing for the year. An outstanding example of the second year of the $10 gold eagle. Bright green-gold with warm honey and orange highlights. Intense mint bloom glows broadly in the fields and within the protected design areas. Lightly circulated with rub on the high points, but devoid of most marks that draw the viewer's eye. One of an estimated 3,500 to 4,146 examples struck; the Guide Book gives the latter figure, while the Dannreuther text gives the estimated figure just quoted.
