Cadell's principal contribution to the Scottish Colourist canon was to establish the salon theme, and he moved from George St to the prestigious address of 6 Ainslie Place in 1920. His interiors were meticulously planned and decorated, and many of the furnishings and motifs he favoured appear regularly.
