Kutch, Gujarat, 19th Century

the single-edged blade with flattened spine and curved end, decorated in gold and silver inlay with scrolling floral and foliate interlace, the spine with a repeat design of quatrefoil motifs, the long tubular handle decorated in relief with a repeat design of floral sprays, the forte cast as an elephant head, the acanthus pommel unscrewing to reveal a concealed blade
