A Persian Steel Kulah Khud
Qajar, 19th Century

With domed skull chiselled with cartouche-shaped panels encrusted with engraved silver foliage within gold-damascened borders, further smaller cartouches between each linked to the top of the helmet and incised with Persian verses against lightly incised scrolling foliage, all against a ground of chiselled flowering foliage overall, the rim bordered by ovoidal and circular panels of chiselled Persian verses, fitted with two plume-holders, central spike of diamond section, and adjustable nasal with shaped finials each chiselled with a bird, and vandyked camail of small butted iron and brass rings (minor rust patination overall)
