With French octagonal sighted rifled barrel inscribed in gold 'Canons Damas De Paris' along the top flat, damascened with gold foliage overall, and retained by six shaped silver barrel bands each engraved with foliage inhabited by birds, foliate scroll engraved French breech, tang with back-sight, detented lock, hammer and spur trigger-guard, the first numbered '2' in gold, Circassian walnut full stock profusely inlaid with rows of shaped ivory panels enriched with brass and dark horn roundels and brass nails, the butt including a pair of birds on each side, foliate engraved silver side-plate with pierced bird's head finials, silver ovoidal butt-cap embossed and chased with foliage, silver fore-end cap with trelliswork enclosing flower-heads, set trigger, and no provision for a ramrod
