A Rare Indian Quiver, And A French (Louis XV) Saddle-Cloth
Both 18th Century
The first of leather lined in red baize (moth damaged and incomplete), the outer surface and suspension strap embroidered in coloured and silver-wrapped threads with flower-heads and foliage, and with plaited carrying cords en suite (worn overall); the second of olive green velvet lined with hessian, shaped to the horse's crupper and the rear of the saddle, and embroidered in silver threads with a symmetrical design of scrolling foliage involving a dolphin on each side (some damage and some threads loose), and with a silver bullion and olive green silk fringe (2)
