Similar to the last, the earlier Persian blade inlaid along one side of the forte with a row of six gold-inlaid cartouches enclosing respectively the names of God, the name of the Prophet, prayers for the Prophet, the name of the Prophet's son-in-law, Ali, and banda-i shah-i Wilayat Abbas' [the slave of the shah of saints, Abbas], all in thuluth script, the gold-inlaid Qur'anic verse bordering the cartouches along one side reads 'Aid is from God and Victory is close. Give the good news to the believers' in Arabic script, and along the other 'The day the gathered cry for help will be answered by Ali' in na'staliq script, the forte on the other side with a gold-inlaid cartouche inscribed 'Asadullah Isfahani' above the apparent date 1620 in na'staliq script, in its original scabbard (locket split on one side, some wear overall)
