With earlier curved very finely watered wootz steel blade (some light pitting, particularly towards the point) double-edged towards the point in front of a small yelman, the forte (some lamination along the back) with two gold-inlaid cartouches inscribed respectively in nastaliq script 'Aid is from God and victory is close' and 'Work of Muhammad Isfahani', a further gold-inlaid inscription 'Shuja, the King' along the back below and a gold-inlaid amulet (beduh) above, gilt-iron hilt (minor loss of gold) of characteristic form comprising bluntly-pointed langets, button quillons each with floret terminal, disc-shaped pommel with domed finial and pierced bud-shaped terminal, and swelling grip with a ribbed band above and below between foliate borders

The form of the hilt suggests that this sword was once part of the Talpur armoury. The Talpur 'Ameers' ruled in Sind from 1783 until annexation by the British in 1843. Of the three branches of the family the most important was that ruling from Hyderabad, Sind
