An Indian Tulwar, And An Indian Sword
18th/19th Century

The first with curved blade double-edged at the point, cut with two narrow fullers along the back for most of its length on each side, and with incised marks on both sides at the forte, and characteristic iron hilt with knuckle-guard and decorated overall with silver-damascened foliage against a punched ground and within line borders; the second with waved tapering blade crudely chiselled with foliage along the back on each side, the forte on one side cut with lotus-blossoms and decorated with a brass figure beneath a cupola, and on the other with lotus-blossoms and a figure brandishing a sword, and steel hilt of khanjar form chiselled with foliage inlaid with minute brass inlays (2)
