A Turkish Yataghan
Dated 1226 A.H. Corresponding To 1811 A.D.

With slightly recurved single-edged blade with narrow fuller along the back for most of its length on each side and with remains of a gold-damascened roundel on one side, and on the other with gold-damascened roundel and panels, the latter dated and with owner's and maker's names in Arabic script, a shaped white-metal mount (incomplete) extending over the forte on each side and embossed with flower-heads and pellets, hilt with grip-strap en suite, and characteristic 'eared' rhinoceros horn grip-scales, in original textile-covered wooden scabbard with deep white-metal locket and chape each embossed with martial trophies and foliage, the latter with monster-head terminal
