A Bhutanese Dagger
19th Century

With sharply tapering blade (some light pitting) of hollow triangular section, characteristic hilt comprising waisted brass grip of octagonal section pierced and chased with scrolling foliage on one side, and chased with lines of swastikas on the other, and silver pommel-cap deeply pierced and chased with foliage, one side with a honeycomb design containing flower-heads, in original wood-lined brass scabbard with silver mounts finely cast, deeply pierced and chased en suite with the pommel-cap, the tapering central panel involving Buddhist symbols, the inner side boldly chased with foliage against a punched ground
