A Balinese Wooden Kris Stand, And A Balinese Kris
Probably 19th Century

The first painted in polychrome and carved in the round as a figure of Bayu seated on a grotesque tortoise (the base with some termite damage); the second with tapering nine lok double-edged blade of flattened diamond section, fluted on each side of the forte and pierced and chiselled at the gandja, and gilt wooden hilt carved overall with lotus buds, the pommel carved as a flower-head, in its wooden scabbard with characteristic sarongan and painted overall with gilt and polychrome decoration (2)
