A Rare 40-Bore Silver-Mounted D.B. Rifled Flintlock Pistol
By Robert Wogdon, London, London Silver Hallmarks For 1778, Maker's Mark Of John King

With octagonal multi-groove rifled barrels engraved 'Wogdon' and 'London' respectively in script along the top flat at the breech and with gold- and silver-lined touch-holes, sunken rib with silver fore-sight, plain tang with back-sight in the sighting groove, flat bevelled detented locks (one cock retaining screw replaced) each signed on a gold-inlaid oval and with gold-lined pan, blued safety-catches and rollers, figured half-stock, butt with swelling pommel and fitted with an iron mount for a shoulder-stock, large silver trigger-guard with acorn finial, silver ramrod-pipe and fore-end cap, and horn-tipped ramrod, London proof marks and Wogdon's barrelsmith's mark
