An Oak Rifle Case, And Two Oak Gun Cases
All Mid-19th Century

The first lined and fitted for a d.b. percussion rifle and accessories (minor damage, lock missing), the interior of the lid with maker's trade label of Thos. Elsworth Mortimer, 97 George St., Edinr. and 34 St. James's Street, London of circa 1840-54, the exterior with brass escutcheon engraved with owner's initials 'WJS'; the second (some woodworm damage) lined in green baize (moth damaged, partitions removed), the interior of the lid (circular escutcheon missing) with maker's trade label of Mortimer & Son, 86 George St., Edinr. and 34 St. James' Street, London of 1854-60; the last with flush-fitting brass carrying handle (lid split, lining and partitions removed) (3)
