Five Various Spurs
12th To 17th Century

All of iron and in excavated condition, comprising a prick-spur with goad of pointed diamond section (heel-band terminals missing); a rowel spur with tapering heel-bands and figure-eight terminals, the latter retaining an incomplete leather-hook and buckle, neck with central roped moulding, and star-shaped rowel of eight points; another with crest, hatched decoration, and rowel of eight points (one heel-band missing); another, similar (one heel-band and rowel missing); and a postillion's rowel of characteristically large size, with tapering heel-band and figure-eight terminals retaining their hooks and buckle for leathers, short curved neck, and star-shaped rowel of fourteen points (5)
