Five Various German Stirrups
All 16th Century

Each of iron and round-arched in outline, the first with fluted tapering sides with incised line decoration at the top on both sides, and circular writhen foot-plate with double cross-bars en suite; the second with fluted sides pierced with three circular holes at the bottom on both sides, and with slender writhen foot-plate and cross-bar; the third with fluted side-bars joined at the top to the central leather-box, the latter formed as a scallop shell at the front, and with integral foot-plate; the fourth with punched and incised line decoration, circular foot-plate with double cross-bars, and leather swivel; the last of similar form and more robust proportions (some pitting) (5)
