In excavated condition, with broad tapering double-edged blade with wide finely pattern-welded shallow central fuller over nearly its entire length to the point on each side, hilt comprising downcurved rounded cross-piece retaining residual silver encrustation from the original decoration, flat tang sharply tapering beneath the pommel, and pommel of shallow 'cocked-hat' form
