A Viking Sword Of Petersen Type M And Wheeler Type 1
9th/10th Century

In excavated condition, with broad pattern-welded double-edged blade, hilt comprising short flat ovoidal cross-guard, flat tapering tang retaining the remains of its original wooden grips, and short pommel en suite with the guard surmounted by a compressed triangular-shaped pommel
75 cm. blade, 88.3 cm. overall
