A Swept-Hilt Rapier
Early 17th Century, Probably German Or Italian

With long tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section with central fuller over each side of the forte extending through the rectangular ricasso and incised 'Sahagom' between cross marks, iron hilt composed of bars of faceted circular section comprising horizontal quillons swelling towards the tips, arms, three outer side-rings, the top most linked by a curved bar to the knuckle-guard, inner-guard of three converging slender bars swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, faceted barrel-shaped pommel with integral button, and grip bound with twisted iron and brass wire between Turk's heads (some pitting overall)
