A Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword

With tapering double-edged blade (some pitting overall) with double central fuller over each side of the forte extending into the ricasso, russet iron hilt of slender rounded bars framing fretted panels incised with lines and pierced with stylised hearts and circles, the main panels centred on saltires, the side-bars each framing an S-shaped bar set at an angle above a 'ram's horn' each pierced with a stylised heart, fore-guards, compressed conical pommel decorated with flutes between incised lines, spirally-grooved fishskin-covered grip bound with a strand of twisted copper wire, and remains of original buff-leather liner
