A Scottish Officer's Basket-Hilted Broadsword

With earlier tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section, the forte cut with three narrow central fullers on each side and etched with stars, a man-in-the-moon, a sun-in-splendour, and an arm emerging from a cloud holding a sword, iron guard of flat and fluted bars variously pierced with a row of vertical slots, hearts, slipped trefoils and ovals, slender side-panels en suite, border engraved fluted looped fore-guards, scrolled wrist-guard, domed pommel and threaded button each with knurled border, wooden grip wrapped in fishskin (minor damage), and in fine condition
