A North European Cavalry Sword
The Blade Dated 1664

With broad double-edged blade incised on each side with latten-filled running wolf mark beyond a deeply struck bladesmith's mark, a plant, the double fuller on each side of the forte incised 'Anno 1664' between small incised star marks, iron hilt of writhen bars comprising recurved quillons with button terminals, side-rings, one retaining its plate pierced with small holes, joined to the pommel by an outer hand-guard corresponding to the knuckle-guard, each screwed to the pommel and linked together by a scrolled bar, inner thumb-ring, diagonally-fluted globular pommel, and wire-bound wooden grip
