A North European Ormolu-Hilted Small-Sword
Late 17th/Early 18th Century

With earlier rapier blade of sharply tapering stiff diamond section faintly incised 'In Toledo' within the fuller on each side of the forte, hilt comprising double-shell guard with moulded borders forming a central diamond-shaped panel beneath, curved arms, knuckle-guard and lobed rear quillon all of diamond section, globular pommel en suite between stepped mouldings, button finial, grip bound with twisted brass wire between Turk's heads, and much of its original gilding (some wear in places)
