A North European Ormolu-Hilted Sword-Rapier
Late 17th Century, Possibly Danish Or Swedish

With sharply tapering double-edged blade (some pitting) of hollow flattened diamond section, the border engraved central fuller on both sides of the forte stamped 'En Toledo', hilt of fluted bars and comprising quillon-block fluted on each side, downcurved lobed rear quillon incised with foliage and with small button terminal, side-loop linked to the knuckle-guard, the latter scrolled and incised with foliage at the top, fluted globular pommel with button centred on a flower-head, wooden grip elaborately bound with varying thicknesses of twisted gilt wire and chain between Turk's heads, and retaining most of its original gilding
