A French Ormolu-Hilted Small-Sword

With bright colichemarde blade of tapering flattened hexagonal section, the forte etched on both sides with foliated strapwork enclosing an oval inscribed 'Prudentia Et Constantia', characteristic hilt cast and chased in relief with ribbonwork enclosing rocailles and foliage, the latter centred on pierced martial trophies on both sides of the shell-guard, quillon-block and pommel, swelling grip bound with silver ribbon and two thicknesses of twisted silver wire between Turk's heads, and retaining much of its original gilding, in original black leather scabbard with brass locket and chape decorated en suite with the hilt on the outside, the former with frog-button
